

ALL Women's Self-Defense: 18+ Series
3-Day Course begins Sun. 5/10, 5/17, 5/24 @ YWCA (3609 Main St. Vancouver, WA 98663) from 4:30-6pm
Class Description
FIRST SUNDAY 5/10 from 4:30-6pm: Learn situational awareness, intuition/biases. Learn blocking and basic striking techniques, how to recover from being pushed, wrist/arm-grab escapes. SECOND SUNDAY 5/17 from 4:30 - 6pm: Develop ASSERTIVE verbal skills to set clear boundaries and de-escalate conflict before it turns physical. Practice student-centered role-plays, then learn core strikes and train with pads to put power behind your voice and movement. THIRD SUNDAY 5/24 from 4:30 - 6pm: Putting it all together. Learn to: 1) Disengage 2) Neutralize 3) Escape to safety from most common physical attacks via role play -- including wrist grabs, arm holds, body grabs, hair grabs, strangulation holds. Practice disengagement techniques that help you break free quickly and safely. Connect your mind, body and voice for strength and power. 4) Graduation day!! As always, at Ohana, the student is always in charge of their own experience during 1:1 training and may step away at any time, as classes are designed & led by women survivors through a trauma-informed lens. 🌺 Prefer not to register online? Cancellation Policy
Aloha! To ensure a safe, supportive experience, Ohana Self-Defense requires a minimum of 4 registered participants to run a class. If minimum enrollment is not met, participants will be offered the option to transfer to a future session. By signing up for classes with Ohana Self-Defense, you agree to the following: 🛡️ Liability Waiver Classes include physical activity and 1:1 role-play, and hands-on training. As an adult participant (18+), you agree not to hold Ohana Self-Defense, its instructors, volunteers, or affiliates liable for any injuries sustained during participation. You acknowledge and accept all risks and waive your right to pursue legal action. ♿ Accessibility & Modifications We welcome adults of all abilities. Modifications are available for participants with limited mobility. Please indicate any accessibility needs in your registration form so we can best support you in a trauma-informed and inclusive way. 📅 How to take three-day course classes: Each class builds on the next, so attendance for the first, second and third in that exact order is expected for you to get the most from your training. (Imagine learning the alphabet the first day, putting words together the second, and learning to sing on the third!)
